WHO WE ARE

We are a group of concerned citizens, pet owners and parents in California shocked by the tragic event described here and even more shocked by the lack of rules and regulations governing this dangerous industry so close to our homes and families.

We are currently directing our advocacy and legislative efforts primarily towards California, with the ultimate objective of extending our successes in this area to other states.

MISSION STATEMENT

At heraslaw.org, our purpose is to promote secure and healthy neighborhoods and communities, free from the risks associated with sulfuryl fluoride gas (commonly known as 'Vikane'). Through concerted efforts, we aim to establish strong partnerships with state and local agencies, as well as legislative bodies, to drive meaningful changes to rules and regulations governing the use of this dangerous gas. By advocating for responsible practices, we are dedicated to protecting lives and safeguarding the well-being of our communities.

GOALS

To achieve the establishment of "Hera's Law," which would govern the practices of pest fumigation companies, the following measures are proposed:

• Require property owners and/or pest fumigation operators to provide at least a 48-hour advance notice to neighbors residing within a 1/4 mile radius of the target property, with special emphasis on warnings for children and pets

• Mandate property owners to clear all accessible areas and secure all unsecured entry points into the structure and sub-structure prior to fumigation

• Require pest fumigation operators to have one or two senior representatives (supervisors) sign-off, confirming that the fumigation zone is free from non-target animals before tent sealing

These provisions, encompassed in "Hera's Law," aim to enhance safety measures and ensure the protection of both human and animal residents during pest fumigation operations.
